The top-ranked Pitt Panthers look to keep their undefeated (16-0) mark alive Saturday when they travel to Louisville, Ky., to take on the No. 20 Louisville Cardinals (15-3) at Freedom Hall in Big East action, however; will be the underdog in this one when the teams tip-off at 6:05 pm ET.
Sports odds professionals at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com list the home team Cardinals as slim 1 ½ -chalk ATS and -125 moneyline favorites with a 131 ½ total. Panthers backers are getting +105 moneyline juice as the underdog.
Pitt begins its second consecutive week and third straight contest as the nation's No. 1 ranked team. Last week, Pitt ascended to the No. 1 ranking following a 70-54 victory at No. 11 Georgetown. Previous No. 1 North Carolina lost to Boston College and previous No. 2 Connecticut lost to Georgetown.
Pitt beat USF 75-62 at home on Jan. 14 in its last game as Tyrell Biggs led four Panthers in double figures with 16 points. Sam Young leads the Panthers in scoring (18.7 ppg), while Levance Field leads the BIG EAST in assists, averaging 7.1 while scoring 10.3 points per game. DeJuan Blair averages 14.7 points and 13.0 rebounds, third best in the nation.
Louisville beat Notre Dame 87-73 in overtime on Monday as Terrence Williams nearly had a triple double with 24 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Freshman Samardo Samuels leads the Cards with 13.9 points per game, while Williams is grabbing a team-high 9.3 rebounds per game.
The Panthers have covered the spread in 7-of-12 board listed games, however; are 2-0 ATS when a single digit line is applied and 1-0 ATS as an underdog on the road.
Louisville is 8-7 ATS including covering five of its last six games.
Sports-Odds.com predicts the Panthers fall tonight. It’s difficult to win them all in college hoops and today’s venue, Louisville at Freedom Hall, is a serious challenge to Pitts undefeated record.
