Eastern Conference stalwarts Chicago and Orlando, which rank second and fourth respectively in the overall conference standings, will clash for the second time this season tonight. This evening's game is scheduled to get underway at 8:00pm ET at the United Center in Chicago. NBA Odds have the Magic listed as a slight -1 against the spread road favorite and the Over/Under set at 187.
Orlando rebounded from a surprising
103-96 home loss to the Detroit Pistons on the 24th with a 111-96 win at Indiana on Wednesday night. The victory over the Pacers improved the Magic's record to 30-16 on the season and left them just a game and a half behind the Miami Heat in the Southeast standings.
Orlando, which has won four of its last five games, had six players score in double figures against Indiana as the team hit 41 of its 82 field goal attempts. Dwight Howard led the team with 19 points and 16 rebounds, but it was the Magic's long range prowess that handed the Pacers their sixth straight loss.
Orlando hit 16-of-34 from beyond the arc, including a 4-for-9 effort from Jason Richarson and a 4-for-7 from Ryan Anderson.
Chicago, which kicked off its current six game home stand with a stunning 82-83 loss to the Bobcats, won its third straight game on Monday night. The Bulls beat Central rival Milwaukee 92-83 to extend their division lead to 13 games.
Chicago, which shot an abysmal 39.5 percent from the field against Milwaukee, beat the Bucks thanks to a superior performance from the charity stripe. The Bulls connected on 22-of-25 free throws while Milwaukee made eight of its 11 free throw attempts. Derrick Rose, who was one of three Chicago players to score in double figures, went a perfect 10-for-10 from the line.
Orlando won the first meeting between these two teams, beating the Bulls 107-78 at Chicago on December 1st. Howard and Jameer Nelson combined for 37 points, 16 rebounds, and nine assists in the win.
Game Note: Rose is battling two stomach ulcers, but he is scheduled to play in this evening's game.
NBA Odds Betting Trend: The Magic are 3-7 straight up and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road favorite with a spread between 0 and 3.5 and total between 185 and 190.
