by Reno Gold on Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Ohio State at MinnesotaOhio State at Minnesota 2012 College Basketball Predictions: Sports shops had a wind-fall day on Saturday when home favorites No. 3 Ohio State, No. 12 Florida and No. 18 Mississippi State all suffered home losses. Tuesday night, all three will be back in action looking for redemption. Two of the games, Ohio State at Minnesota and Florida at Alabama will be televised as part of the ESPN Tuesday package while MSU plays on the road at LSU in a ESPNU televised game. Florida and Alabama tip-off at 7 pm ET on ESPN to be followed at 9 pm by Ohio State at Minnesota.

The Buckeyes must travel to the Twin-Cities to play Minnesota who are always dangerous at home. Oddsmakers at online sportsbook Bodava.lv lists OSU as 8-chalk road favorites with a combined score total of 129. Minnesota backers are getting +310 College Basketball Odds to win on the offshore moneyline while the price of a SU wager on Ohio State is -380 ($380 wager to win $100).

For the Golden Gophers ( 17-8, 5-7 Big Ten) to be invited to the 2012 NCAA Tournament they need at least a .500 league record and a signature win; something that’s evaded the team so far. A win over the Buckeyes tonight would go a long way in upping their NCAA stock. The Buckeyes are currently co-leaders in the Big 10 with Michigan State, each with 9-3 conference losses. The Golden Gophers had a good chance to improve their tournament chances on Saturday but squandered the opportunity losing at home to Wisconsin.

Ohio State, who hasn’t lost back to back games this season is expected to win this game. Maybe the worst thing that could have happened for Minnesota was for the Buckeyes to have slipped against Michigan State on Saturday. OSU needs this win if they want a top regional seed and Minnesota needs a win to look good before the NCAA Tournament selection committee. It should be a very competitive game but Ohio State will prevail SU giving -380.
