“Some were racial, and others were girls like, ‘Let’s make out.’ I don’t know what to expect from Starkville.” 6-foot-11, freshman, DeMarcus Cousins said of some of messages left in his voice mail. “I’m going to change (the phone number) after the game… I want to see what they have to say then.”
After an impressive 73-62 victory over then-No.12 Tennessee last Saturday, the Wildcats now only trail Kansas in the polls. The victory came as a group effort, something that will be crucial come March.
“When the other team is frustrating DeMarcus we have to step up,” Kentucky guard Eric Bledsoe said. “DeMarcus is one of the key players in our offense. They were kind of beating him up on offense and defense and he was getting frustrated. John and I just had to step up.”
