Kentucky at Mississippi State 2012 College Basketball Picks: The No. 1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball team looks to win their 19th consecutive game and remain unbeaten in Southeastern Conference play when they travel to Starkville, Miss., to play the Mississippi State University Bulldogs at Humphrey Coliseum. Kentucky is leading the SEC with a 12-0 league mark and is 26-1 overall. The Bulldogs are 19-8 on the year with a 6-6 conference record. Tuesday’s game, part of the Big Tuesday ESPN lineup tips off at 9 pm ET.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook TopBet.com list the Wildcats as road favorites by 9 1/2 points with a combined score total (over/under of 140 1/2. Moneyline odds are currently off the College Basketball Odds board but will appear Tuesday morning.
Kentucky has won three straight in this series with the Bulldogs, but the two have split their last six games. In the last seven games overall, the outcome has been decided by nine points or less, with the average margin of victory being 4.9 points.
“When you’re playing Kentucky, you have to hit on all cylinders,” said Bulldogs coach Rick Stansbury, who is 4-12 against the Wildcats during his time in Starkville. “You’ve got to do some things better than you’re capable of doing, and darn sure better than you’ve done them to have any kind of a chance at all. And then you hope Kentucky doesn’t play their best. If Kentucky plays their best, I’m not so sure there’s anyone, anywhere who has a chance against them.”
Game Day Pick: Will the Bulldogs keep within 10 points of the Wildcats? Probably not – My Pick Kentucky -9 1/2.
