Duke vs North Carolina Odds 2011 NCAA Basketball Picks

by Matt Foust on Saturday, March 5th, 2011

The ACC title is on the line tonight as Duke and North Carolina slug it out at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill. This evening's game between the two hated rivals, which both own 13-2 conference records, is scheduled to tip off at 8:00pm ET on CBS. The latest NCAA Basketball Odds have the Tar Heels listed as a -1 against the spread college basketball picks home favorite; the Over/Under is set at 149.

Duke suffered just its third loss of the Duke vs North Carolina Odds 2011 NCAA Basketball Picksseason last weekend, falling 60-64 at Virginia Tech, but the Blue Devils rebounded from that unexpected setback with a 70-59 win over Clemson on Wednesday.

Duke was outrebounded by the Tigers 37 to 35 and it turned the ball over 20 times, but Coach K's troops made up for their shortcomings with a smothering defensive effort. Clemson connected on just 21 of its 69 field goal attempts for a horrendous 30.4 shooting percentage.

Offensively Nolan Smith led the team with 21 points while Kyle Singler, who grabbed 11 boards, dropped in 18. Seth Curry, the only other Blue Devil to reach double figures, also added 18 points.

Duke, which stands at 27-3 overall, ran its win streak against the Tar Heels to three games when these two teams hooked up on February 9th. The Blue Devils trailed UNC 29-43 at the break, but ultimately prevailed 79-73 on the strength of a 34 point night from Smith.

North Carolina comes into tonight's clash with a 23-6 record after going a perfect 6-0 since their loss to Duke. The Tar Heels nearly saw their win streak end in their last game, though, as they just slipped by Florida State 72-70 in Tallahasse.

Freshman forward Harrison Barnes played the role of hero in the win over the Seminoles by nailing a game winning three pointer with three second left on the clock. Barnes, one of three Tar Heels to finish in double figures, finished the night with 18 points. John Henson led the team with 19 points; Henson also recorded 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.

UNC has produced a 14-0 home record this season, but it has not protected its home court that well against the Blue Devils of late. Duke has won two of its last three games at Chapel Hill, including a 64-54 win at the Dean Dome last February.

Duke vs North Carolina Odds 2011 NCAA Basketball Picks:

Duke Blue Devils +1 (-110), Over 149 (-110)

North Carolina Tar Heels -1 (-110), Under 149 (-110)
