Thursday is a huge night for the Pac-10 in NCAA hoops action, as Stanford can pull into a tie for first place with a win at UCLA. BetOnline.com has the UCLA Bruins –9 point favorites against the Stanford Cardinals.
The Cardinal showed a lot of mental strength by winning 60-53 at home over Washington State on Saturday, as they trailed by 11 points at the halftime whistle. Brook Lopez powered the comeback with 25 points, in addition to six rebounds and four blocks for the Cardinal, who went to the foul line 25 times while limiting the Cougars to only ten.
The Bruins passed a tough test on Sunday with a 68-66 victory at Arizona, and as usual Kevin Love led the way with 24 points and 15 rebounds. The freshman monster looked like a man among boys with his performance, and efforts like this make it all too clear that Love would be a top-five pick in the NBA draft if he decides to make the jump to the pros. The Bruins have won four of their past five meetings with the Cardinal, including a 76-67 victory at Stanford on January 3rd. While the Cardinal are one of the few teams in the country that have the size to deal with Love, the Bruins should wrap up first place in the Pac-10 with a win because of their depth and home court advantage.
