In the Big East, red-hot Connecticut looks to build on its recent momentum during a trip to Providence. BetOnline.com has the Connecticut Huskies –5 point favorites against the Providence Friars.
The Huskies' 79-71 win at home over West Virginia on Saturday was their 12th in 13 games, with a two-point loss at Villanova as their only blemish during that period. A.J. Price was the high man in a balanced Connecticut attack with 24 points, and the Huskies shot 51.1% from the field, including 9-for-15 from three-point land.
The Friars snapped a five-game losing skid with an 81-79 overtime win at Cincinnati on Sunday, as Brian McKenzie led five Providence players who reached double figures with 18 points.
The Friars managed to hold the Bearcats to 39.7% from the field, but they did give up 20 offensive rebounds. Providence has won three of their last five meetings with Connecticut, including a 77-65 victory on the road on January 17th. Since that game, these teams have gone in different directions, so look for the Huskies to avenge their loss and gain a split of the season series against the Friars.
