Kansas Jayhawks vs Memphis Tigers will pit the classic offense vs defense match-up that will feature the lighting quick scoring powerhouse in Memphis vs the suffocating defense of Kansas. Defense wins championships has long been the mantra not only for football but also for NCAA basketball. Memphis is a -2 point favorite for the NCAA Basketball Championship in Kansas Jayhawks vs Memphis Tigers. Kansas (22-15 ATS) has the well-publicized defense that has allowed only 59.4 PPG in the NCAA tournament, but what about Memphis’s defense? Opposing teams have seemed to have a major problem dealing with the length of Memphis (18-19-2 ATS) on defense where they have gone somewhat unnoticed while matching Kansas stat wise allowing 61.6 PPG on defense for the year. Memphis Center Joey Dorsey is a hulking presence and when he’s on his game he is a force. The betting total for Memphis Tigers vs Kansas Jayhawks is 148 points. On offense much has been made of Memphis and their “dribble-drive motion” offense that has been executed to perfection by Derrick Rose and Chris Douglas Roberts who are both NBA caliber talents. Memphis thrives on winning one-on-one matchups and with their stud personnel and ability to execute fast breaks they have went on an amazing run going 38-1 SU on the season. Kansas runs a more conventional offense looking to dump the ball to their post players while looking for open 3-point shots for future NBA first-rounder Brandon Rush. Kansas is deep on depth with low-key quality players like Sherron Collins, Mario Chalmers, Russell Robinson and Sasha Kaun.
Despite their obvious talent their seems to be a tenseness to this Kansas team. Memphis is playing with a quiet confidence and coach John Calipari has his team playing like a finely tuned Italian machine. Kansas for all of their talent seem to have an obvious weakness in their ability to feel the pressure and choke.
