Two bubble teams get together on Sunday in Kentucky as the Wildcats host the Florida Gators.  Kentucky has won 10 of their last 12 games to get into the NCAA Tourney picture while Florida has lost a couple of games recently to slip back onto the bubble.

NCAA Basketball Betting Preview
Florida (21-9) at Kentucky (17-11)

Kentucky beat South Carolina on Wednesday as Joe Crawford poured in 35 points and Ramel Bradley added 20.  Crawford leads the squad in scoring at 17.1 points per game, while Bradley averages 16 per contest. Florida is coming off a loss against Tennessee on Wednesday when they blew a 16 point lead that might end up costing them an NCAA bid.  Nick Calathes had 24 points and nine assists while Marreese Speights added 21 points. Calathes leads the SEC at 6.1 assists per game and is averaging a team-high 17 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game.

This game is a crucial one for both teams.  Kentucky actually has fewer wins but a better resume to make the tournament.  They have a better RPI and a much better strength of schedule.  If Florida loses on Sunday and then does nothing in the SEC Tournament they will probably be out since their RPI and strength of schedule is weak.  The Wildcats could also use a win on Sunday.  That might be enough to get them in regardless of what they do in the SEC Tourney next week.

Here are some notes for the NCAA Basketball betting Sunday’s game.  Florida trails the all-time series with Kentucky, 84-31, but has won the past seven meetings between the two schools over the past four years. The Gators are the only school in SEC history to have won seven consecutive games against Kentucky. Florida has won its last two games at Rupp Arena, only the second time the Gators have ever won back-to-back games there.  The Gators have never won three in a row at Kentucky.

Florida is 6-3 against the SEC East this year and 28-11 against the East over the last four years. In the Gators’ 20 wins they are averaging 83.6 points per game, hitting 52.2 percent from the floor and 41.6 percent from three point range. In their nine losses, they have averaged 67.3 points; hit 42.4 percent from the floor and just 25.5 percent from three-point range. Defensively in their nine losses, they are surrendering 78.1 points per game.

Billy Donovan is 11-14 all-time against Kentucky. Florida defeated the Wildcats, 81-70, in overtime earlier this season. Kentucky is 7-0 at home in SEC play this season.
