"Pitt, as a No. 1 seed, will benefit by losing early in the Big East Tournament,” stated studio analyst Greg Anthony on the CBS tournament selection show on Sunday afternoon. “They have, by far, to me, the easiest bracket. I think they're going to be well rested."
“My class, the junior class, that’s been here the last two years, we know what it feels like to lose those NCAA games,” stated Duke Blue Devils forward Lance Thomas. “Come this time of the year, we’re not trying to feel that any more. I’ve felt it twice, and it’s not something I want to go out with. We want more.”

“I’m proud of our program, I really am,” stated Villanova Wildcats head coach Jay Wright from the Connelly Center, where the school’s Selection Sunday party was housed. “I was worried last year and I thought that it was really big for us to get back last year and keep it going. I hope that’s going to help this team this year…I didn’t know if it was our fans mad at us, or what. I realized it afterward: A lot of people in there were rooting for the underdog. That’s what you do at the NCAA tournament. It was all the other fans. We never even thought about that. We thought, ‘OK, we’re in Philly, everybody is going to be rooting for us.'”
