The East is the only region in which the top four seeds progressed to the round of 16 and now Louisville and Tennessee square off in what is sure to be a frantic match-up. The Sports-Odds.com live lines feed shows that BetOnline.com has the Louisville Cardinals –3 point favorites against the Tennessee Volunteers with an over/under set at 145.5 points.
The Cardinals knocked off Boise State by 18 points before rolling to a 30-point beating of Oklahoma. Louisville's full-court pressure defense is too much to handle for both of those teams, and the Cardinals are brimming with confidence as they have lost only twice since the beginning of February. Earl Clark led the team in scoring in both games, but the Cardinals are going to have to get David Padgett going if they want to advance to the next round.
The Volunteers let American hang around much longer than necessary in the first round before disposing of the No.15 seed, and then they escaped Butler with a five-point overtime win. Wayne Chism is going to the next gear with a pair of 16-point games, but the Volunteers need star Chris Lofton to utilize his immense talent and take over at some point.
The Cardinals are 2.5-point favorites in this clash, but the Volunteers are far from having shown their best side. In a game that could be come down to coaching (Louisville's Rick Pitino against Tennessee's Bruce Pearl), the Volunteers will snatch a tight win in what could be the best game of the tournament to date.
