The marquee match-up today in the NBA comes from the East, where the Detroit Pistons host the Cleveland Cavaliers in another rematch of last season’s conference final. BetOnline.com has the Detroit Pistons –8 point home favorites against the Cleveland Cavaliers with the total set at 183 points.
The Cavaliers head into this contest on a two-game slide, falling 100-99 at home to New Orleans on Wednesday most recently. This was the first game since February 11th in which someone other than LeBron James led the team in scoring, as Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 29 points, along with 15 rebounds. Also, over their last five games, the Cavaliers have lost three when allowing over 100 points, with two wins when they hold teams to under 100 points.
Simply put, if the Cavaliers play defense like they are capable of, they will usually win the game. The Pistons had lost three of four heading into Thursday’s meeting with Miami, with all three losses coming on the road at Cleveland, Washington and Toronto. In those three losses, the Pistons averaged a mere 79.3 points on the offensive end, and while the Pistons are one of the top five defensive teams in the league, you cannot win in the NBA by scoring less than 90 points a night.
The Cavaliers have taken four of their last five against the Pistons, with the two splitting a pair this season. Look for the Pistons to avenge last week’s loss in Cleveland with a strong showing at home. Get your Free NBA Pick in Now!
