With only three games on the NBA schedule, you would think that there would not be much action on the hardcourt. But that is not the case, as Golden State and Denver will go toe-to-toe in a meeting of the two highest-scoring teams in the NBA, with eighth place in the Western Conference up for grabs. The Nuggets have dropped three of their last five games heading into this contest, and losses to teams like Sacramento and Seattle over the last week may come back to haunt Denver. If the Nuggets are to miss the second season, it will be down to a lack of defense, which would be an understatement to say the least.  A 117-99 win over the Clippers on Tuesday was the first time since March 12th, a span of 14 games, in which the Nuggets held a team to under 100 points. Carmelo Anthony has been simply unstoppable lately, putting up 40.3 points a game in his last three contests, but the Nuggets will have to learn to stop somebody if they want to be successful.
The Warriors are in the same boat, although they have been slightly better on the defensive end. However, Golden State is still allowing a league-high 108.3 points per game, which will be their downfall if they meet a defensive powerhouse like San Antonio in the first round. Also, the Warriors must be worried that Stephen Jackson is in the midst of his worst slump of the season, because Jackson is the player who sets the tone for Golden State at both ends of the floor.
The Nuggets have come out on top in three of their last five meetings with the Warriors, including a win in Golden State. In a game which features the two most powerful offenses, as well as the two worst defensive teams in the league, a free-wheeling and high-scoring game should be expected.
