San Antonio Spurs vs LA Lakers NBA Basketball Odds April 12, 2011: Trying not to stumble into the 2011 Playoffs, the defending World Champion (55-25) Los Angeles Lakers [-7] will try and span a five-game skid, as they host the top-seeded NBA Betting Odds underdog (61-19) San Antonio Spurs [+7]. This great Western Conference battle is set to get underway this evening, as part of the second game of an NBA double-header on TNT Sports.
The Spurs and Lakers will tip things off right around 10:40 PM ET (7:40 PM PT) and the projected OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 194 points, accrding to NBA Predictions specialists. For San Antonio, this game doesn’t mean much as far as the Playoff standings are concerned, but there’s some pride involved.
The last time these teams met, the Spurs looked unbeatable, especially at home. Nevertheless, a motivated Lakers team was able to go into the Spurs’ home, smack them in the mouth, and shook their confidence, at least temporarily. With great defensive intensity and offensive execution, the Lakers humbled the Spurs on national television, 99-83.
However, it’s been the defending champion Lakers the ones that have been humbled of late, as they are finishing the season in less than ideal fashion. Trying to flip the switch on, the Purple and Gold will try and snap out of 5-game funk before finishing the regular season against the Sacramento Kings. Although I like Los Angeles to emerge victorious in tonight’s NBA Picks, the only way that the Spurs will lose by more than 8 points is if Greg Popovich decided to waive the white flag and rest his starters.
