Kirilenko aggravated his already strained left calf during a light workout on Thursday in Salt Lake City. In place
of Kirilenko, Utah coach Jerry Sloan, said he would put Carlos Boozer back in the lineup for Game 1.
“We want to have our team at full strength, but what can you do about injuries?” said Jazz point-guard Deron Williams. “You can't make a guy play if they're hurt. They need to sit out and take care of themselves.”
Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin will be in the line up, after missing 18 games in the regular season, due to a balky left knee. He was able to come back for the last three regular season games and played limited minutes, so how effective he will be tonight is yet to be seen. When asked about his conditioning status, Martin responded,
“Terrible. But it ain't as bad as I thought it would be,” Martin said. “Got a couple of games in, especially at home. I think that was the most important thing, for me to get the altitude in my lungs a little bit. It don't matter out here, man. You could be gone for a day and come back and it's still going to bother you a little bit. Just got to push through it.”
