Game 3 of this Eastern Conference series continues tonight from central Florida, as the Detroit Pistons travel to the “Sunshine State” to take on the Orlando Magic. For the duration of two games, the Pistons defense has suffocated and contained the Slam Dunk Champion C Dwight Howard. In order for the Magic to make this a series heading back home, they must regroup. The fine folks at BodogLife.com have the Orlando Magic favorite by –4 points at home when they host the Detroit Pistons, and the O/U has been set at a total of 187 points. The Magic did a much better job in game 2 of getting their offense in some sort of a flow against this excellent Detroit defense. One of the issues in that game was a controversial call at the end of the 3rd quarter, when time just seems to have stopped enabling PG Chauncey Billups to put Detroit ahead with a 3-pointer. But that was the end of the 3rd quarter, not the final buzzer.
One would agree that the officials blew that call: attempting to estimate how much time remained in the quarter. But, you have to blame the NBA rules for that one; the officials were just following what the rule says. The Magic need to stop focusing on the officiating, and start focusing on coaching strategy, and how to get Dwight Howard more efficient touches, if they want to go back to Detroit, Michigan this season.
