With their backs already against the wall, the Cleveland Cavalier received some very bad news Thursday night regarding one of their key players. After an MRI, it has been determined that the Cleveland Cavalier’s PG Daniel Gibson will be unable to play in game 6 at home versus the Boston Celtics. Gibson suffered a first-degree AC (acromioclavicular joint) separation in his left shoulder during a physical play in the 4th quarter of game 5. Gibson’s estimated recovery-time table will be 1-2 weeks. This is a big blow for the Cavaliers, considering right now, they need all the help they can get if they want to upset the heavy favorite Celtics and advance to the conference finals against the Detroit Pistons. Sportsbook.com has the Cleveland Cavaliers a - 2 ½ point favorite in NBA Playoffs Betting when they host the Boston Celtics (+ 2 ½) in game 6 and the O/U has been set at a combined 179 total points. The injury to Gibson is particularly bad considering his man (Celts PG Rajon Rondo) had a terrific game last time out, and will likely come out very confidant and aggressive in game 6. Rondo finished game 5 with 20 points, and a game-high 13 assists for the green team. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett both had monster games, finishing with 29 points and 7 boards, and 26 points and 16 boards, respectively. For the Cavaliers, LeBron James finally showed signs of breaking out of his offensive (series-long) funk. James finished the game with a personal semi-final's best 12-25 shooting from the field in route to 35 points. LeBron was also very effective from the charity stripe, converting in 11 of his 13 free throws. After a practice session, James assessed the situation: “We’ve just got to approach Game 6 like any other game – like you’re down 0-2… we know it’s a win-or-go-home situation and we’ve got to approach it that way. We’re a very good team at home. But a LeBron James team is never desperate.” The Celtics look try to avoid going to back to Bean Town for a sudden death, game 7. However in order for the Cs to accomplish this, they will have to do something they have failed to do for the duration of the entire 2008 playoffs, win a single road game.
