San Antonio Spurs at New Orleans Hornets NBA Playoffs Game 7 Prediction PDF Print E-mail

The Los Angeles Lakers will be keeping a close eye on this contest, Monday night. The winner of this San Antotnio Spurs vs New Orleans game will pack their bags and head to the city of angels, for the start of the NBA 2008 Western Conference Finals. But first, game 7 from the Big Easy. In what has been a long, up-and-down series, the defending NBA champions the San Antonio Spurs will try to upset the (home team) New Orleans Hornets in a deciding game 7. Sportsbetting.com has the home team in the San Antonio vs New Orleans match-up has New Orleans to win at -4 odds.

The New Orleans Hornets have been a very solid home-team in these 2008 NBA Playoffs. Coming into the post-season as the No. 2 seed (in the West), the Hornets have certainly taken care of business.

Coach Byron Scott and PG Chris Paul have silenced most questions regarding New Orleans’ (unforeseen) regular season success, and (if in fact), that would transfer over to the playoffs.

However, one question still remains… Can they dethrone the highly experienced reigning NBA champions in a game 7?

Up until now (in the Western semifinals), the San Antonio Spurs have looked old and slow; the complete opposite of a young and quick NO team. In fact, the SAS have been blown out of every road game, in this series. The Hornets have dominated, virtually every facet of the games.  The TOTAL NBA betting odds in the San Antonio Spurs vs New Orleans Hornets is set at 182 ½ points.

So, if this is any indication on the outcome of tonight's game, the Spurs should expect to get beat-down to submission... right... Wrong!

A savvy veteran team like SA will not go quietly into the night. The fact that, they’ve had just as much success (at home) in this series as NO has, gives them something to hang their hats on.

The biggest issue for the Spurs on the road has been intensity. As a veteran ball club, it seems like, they have detached themselves emotionally from this series (on the road), and in-turn have allowed their opponents to get very (emotionally) involved early… Perhaps, anticipating an emotional exhaustion by a young club in a game 7?

For the Spurs, it has been business as usual. I believe they knew this series would go the distance, and thus, have saved their energy for the finish line.

It seems like they have gone through this series pacing themselves, in anticipation of, what tomorrow will become a reality: a winner takes all elimination game 7.

With a 4 point spread, I like San Antonio to beat the odds in this one.
