2009 NBA Playoffs: Orlando Magic vs Cleveland Cavaliers Game 2

by Abe Luciano on Friday, May 22nd, 2009

2009 NBA Playoffs Orlando Magic (1-0) vs. Cleveland Cavaliers (0-1) Game 2: In game 1 the Orlando Magic stunned the basketball world and took home court away from the Cleveland Cavaliers, despite LeBron James’ best effort at home, a place where they lost 2 games all season long.

In tonight’s game 2 you can expect a different Cavaliers team to show up. According to 2009 NBA Playoffs, oddsmakers at SportsBook.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers [-9] have been selected as the Sports Odds favorites to win Game 2 of this series and even things out with the Orlando Magic [+9].

In game 1, Orlando did a great job of exposing the Cavs. Not only did they show that James can’t do it alone, but they did something greater: they took the air of invincibility and the false perception that Cleveland couldn’t be beaten, away.

The OVER/UNDER for tonight’s 2009 NBA Playoffs: Orlando Magic vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Game 2 has been set at a combined total of 188½ points.

The Cavaliers’ depth and defense were exposed in game 1, by a hungrier more determined team. "We're looking at it as a must win,” James said.

Cavs guard Mo Williams echoed those sentiments, "It's obvious. My grandma knows that. Yeah, it's a must win. Hell yeah.”

How did Orlando pull off the Magic act? First of all, they shot the ball extremely well from long distance when they needed to. None was bigger than Rashard Lewis’ clutch three with 14.7 seconds left in the game.

"I don't even think most of the nation knows that we're in this series,” underrated Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy. "This is the 'Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James series.' Who they are playing against is incidental.

"It doesn't bother me and I don't think it bothers our guys. That's the way it is. Look, they won 66 games. They swept through two rounds of the playoffs. They've got the most valuable player in the league … But it doesn't matter.

"The bottom line is this is not the BCS, where people get to vote for who the best teams are. We actually get to play on the court to decide that.”
