What a difference a year makes… Lakers move on for the 29th time to the NBA Finals, It was just over a year ago that the Los Angeles Lakers where at a crossroad with their superstar, and now 2008 MVP Kobe Bryant. Kobe felt betrayed and publicly demanded to be traded from the Lakers, after reports surfaced in the LA Times, that the LA Lakers’ management were the ones responsible for all the rumors that haunted Kobe Bryant for years, about his implications in the Shaquille O’Neal trade. Sportsbook.com had the Los Angeles Lakers a -8 point favorite against the San Antonio Spurs. The poise and the maturity the Los Angeles Lakers have displayed since the acquisition of the Spaniard, Pau Gasol, has been unparallel. They have been able to play exceptionally well by executing their offense, and adjusting very well to the different styles of play NBA teams throw at you on a nightly basis. They also have one of the most underrated benches in the NBA. Not to mention, they have done all this without their starting center Andrew Bynum, who should be back by the start of next season. Combine all that, with the best closer in the game, in the 2008 MVP Kobe Bryant, and you have all the ingredients of yet another dynasty. I will go out on a limb right now, and predict the Los Angeles Lakers (barring any significant injury), will win at least 4 of the next 5 NBA championships.
