Miami will attempt to recover from its disastrous Game 2 finish tonight as the 2011 NBA Finals move to the American Airlines Center in Dallas. This evening's pivotal Game 3 contest is scheduled to tip off at 8:00p.m. ET on ABC. The latest Sports Betting Odds have the Mavs listed as a -2.5 against the spread favorite; the Over/Under is set at 188.5.
The Miami Heat appeared to have a 2-0
series lead all but locked up on Thursday night as they held a 15 point lead with just under seven minutes left in the contest. LeBron James and company controlled the game from the eight minute mark of the second quarter until about the halfway point in the final frame, leaving little room for even the thought of a Dallas' comeback.
Something clicked with the Mavericks, though, shortly after Dwyane Wade, who finished with a game high 36 points, nailed a three pointer to give Miami its biggest lead of the night. Dallas buckled down defensively following Wade's would be back breaking shot, allowing just one Heat field goal the rest of the way.
Dirk Nowitzki found his game late as well, scoring the Mavericks last four baskets in route to a 24 point evening. Nowitzki, who also reeled in 11 rebounds, put Dallas up for good with 0:03 left in regulation as he got by Chris Bosh for a game winning layup.
The stunning rally handed the Heat, who apparantly angered more than a few Maverick players by celebrating Wade's fourth quarter three in front of the Dallas' bench, its first home loss of the postseason. For Dallas, the victory represented their sixth win in nine road playoff games.
The Mavericks, like the Heat, have been dominant at home all year long. Dallas, which went 29-12 at the American Airlines Center during the regular season, is 7-1 at the facility in the playoffs. Miami owns a 4-3 road record in the postseason, but it has dropped its last five at Dallas by an average of 4.8 points per game.
