The 2011 NBA Finals resume tonight as Dallas looks to close out the series on the Heat's home floor. The Mavericks left the Lone Star State with a 3-2 lead after scoring the most lopsided win for either team in the best of seven showdown. This evening's potential finale is scheduled for a 8:00 PM ET tip off at the AmericanAirlines Arena; it will be broadcast live on ABC. Sports Betting Odds have Miami listed as a -5 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 187.5.
LeBron James' Game 4 collapse was all
the rage last week as the two-time MVP scored a career playoff low eight points on Tuesday.
James redeemed himself to a certain extent in Game 5, recording a 17 point, 10 rebound, 10 assist triple-double, but he still came up short in the fourth quarter (1-for-4 from the field).
Dallas went on to win the pivotal contest 112-103 after outscoring the Heat 52-46 in the second-half.
Now James and his co-star Dwyane Wade find themselves embroiled in "Cough-gate" with elimination staring them squarely in the face. The two Heat prima donnas were caught on tape last Thursday poking fun at the Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki, who battled illness in leading his team to a critical Game 4 victory.
The pair, in full image repair mode, said their classless display was a comment on the media and not Nowitzki or his sickness.
The video of James and Wade did not come to light until after Dallas had already secured Game 5 and a 3-2 series lead, causing some to spectulate that the Mavs might reach a little deeper tonight. Nowitzki quickly dismissed that notion, though.
"This is the NBA Finals," Nowitzki said. "If you need extra motivation, you have a problem."
Perhaps James and Wade can take a cue from the big guy and worry less about the media and more about breaking the Mavericks hold over the Heat. Thursday's victory represented Dallas' eighth win in its last 10 games against Miami.
Here's hoping the ninth comes tonight.
