Lakers at Celtics 2008 NBA Finals Game 6: for the second time in this NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers will be fighting off elimination against the Boston Celtics. Tonight’s tip off is scheduled for 9 pm EST from the new Garden, and can be seen on ABC Sports. Do they Lakers have it in them to prevail for one more night? Can they extend the series the distance, 7 games? Or will the ghost of Red Auerbach be smoking his signature cigar in the Garden tonight? SportsBetting.com has the Boston Celtics NBA Champions tonight by -4½ points, against a desperate Los Angeles Lakers team +4½. You can bet, Red Aurerbach will be watching tonight’s game, waiting for the moment to spark up his celebratory Cuban. But do they C’s have it in them, can they outperform a frantic Kobe Bryant and LA squad? Can they overcome, Ray Allan’s distraction, and will Kendrick Perkins be available for tonight? These are many of the questions that will be a factor in tonight’s outcome. Will the bubbly be flowing tonight? I believe it is very likely to happen, unless LA can come out and play their best game of the Finals so far. For LA to pull off the upset, they need to have a repeat performance of game 5, but when they jump out to a lead, they need to maintain it. They cannot continue to fall asleep after they get off to a hot start. And I think they will, Kobe and LA are going to jump out on the Celts early and often, they key in tonight’s contest is going to be: can they maintain that pace? I’m one of the only ones that think the Lakers can pull this off. Why? Because I’ve seen with what ease they score the ball and get out to big leads when they execute the offense. And yes Boston will make in-game adjustments, but when they do, they give something else away. The key for Phil is to throw the kitchen sink at the Celts, at every adjustment they make. And please do not bring in Chris Mihm. The pressure has now shifted to Boston to close the Lakers out tonight. If LA can come out, play loose, execute the offense, and steal tonight’s game, anything is possible. The Lakers need to take a page out of the Boston Red Sox page, and have the game of their lives, tonight.
