2011 NBA Draft Odds

by Matt Foust on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011

The Cleveland Cavaliers can officially put LeBron James in the rearview mirror tonight if they play their cards right. The recently beleaguered franchise owns the first and fourth picks in tonight's draft, a prospect that could lift them out of the Association's cellar. This evening's 2011 NBA Draft will take place at 7:00 PM ET at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. The latest Sports Betting Odds are favoring Under five ACC players (-300) to be selected in Round One of the draft.

Potential Round 1 Selections 2011 NBA Draft Oddsout of the ACC (Over/Under 5 Players): Three Duke players, Kyrie Irving, Nolan Smith, and Kyle Singler, are strong possibilities to go in the top 30. Irving is an absolute lock with most odds makers calling for the freshman to go first overall to the Cavaliers. Other ACC players in the first round mix include Reggie Jackson (Boston College) and Chris Singleton (Florida State).

Potential Round 1 Selections out of the Big East (Over/Under 2 Players): Despite being deep and loaded with talent, the Big East has only three legitimate first round prospects this year. Kemba Walker is a certain top 10 selection and Marshon Brooks out of Providence should go somewhere in the top 25. Jimmy Butler, the third Big East player being touted in this year's draft, could easily make his way to the second round, though.

Potential Round 1 Selections out of the Big 12 (Over/Under 5 Players): Kansas alone should see three players go in the first round in twins Marcus and Markieff Morris and guard Josh Selby. The league has a number of other strong possibilities in Alec Burks (Colorado), Jordan Hamilton (Texas), Corey Joseph (Texas), and Tristan Thompson (Texas). Five may draw a push with Joseph falling to the second round in most mock drafts.

Potential Round 1 Selections out of the SEC (Over/Under 3 Players): Brandon Knight and Enes Kanter out of Kentucky are both almost certain top 10 picks. Other SEC first round candidates include Tobias Harris (Tennessee), Chandler Parsons (Florida), and Trey Thompkins (Georgia). Harris seems destined for the first round as well, but Parsons and Thompkins are probably borderline at best.

Potential Round 1 Selections out of the Pac 10 (Over/Under 4 Players): A Push looks like an absolute possiblity at four players with Derrick Williams (Arizona), Tyler Honeycutt (UCLA), Klay Thompson (Washington State), and Nikola Vucevic (USC) all expected to go in the first round. The potential deal makers/breakers include Washington's Isaiah Thomas and UCLA's Malcolm Lee.
