According to the experts, and in many mock drafts around the nation, the Chicago Bulls are likely to select Derrick Rose #1. This 6’ 3” 190 lb freshman out of Memphis, is coming off a terrific first collegiate year averaging: 15 pts (2nd in team, 8th in ConferenceUSA), 4.7 assists (led team, 4th in C-USA), 48 % from the field, 1.2 steals pg, and 4.5 rebounds pg. The Miami Heat has this year’s 2008 NBA Draft 2nd pick, and most people are expecting Pat Riley to select Michael Beasley out of Kansas State. This 6’ 10” 235 lb Forward also had an outstanding 2007-08 collegiate campaign with the Kansas St. Jayhawks.

He received every-and-any award possible for a collegiate player to be recompensed with. In only his freshman year, Beasley: set a Kansas State career record for 40-point games (3) and set new single season marks in points scored (866), scoring average (26.2 ppg), 30-point games (13), double-doubles (28), rebounds (408), field goals made (307) and free throws made (216). Finally, I'll be rounding out the top-three players in the nation, and their probable 2008 NBA destination. The 3rd pick in the 2008 NBA Draft belongs to Kevin McHale and the Minnesota Timberwolves. If everything goes accordingly, with Rose #1 and Beasley #2, the Wolves are projected to select, the already controversial O.J. Mayo from USC.

This 6’ 5”, 200 lb Guard, has already become a household name in basketball fan’s minds, but for the wrong reasons. This preview will concentrate strictly on Mayo’s attractions on the court. This Huntington High School All-American is entering the 2008 NBA Draft also after only his first year in college.

In the 2007-08 campaign, O.J. Mayo Led team in scoring (20.7 ppg, 2nd in the Pac-10), assists (3.3 apg, 10th) and steals (1.6 spg, 6th), and 3rd in rebounding (4.5 rpg). In addition, Mayo set school freshman single-season records for scoring average, points scored (684) and three-point field goals made (88). O.J. Mayo is a 4 - 13 betting odds of being the #3 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.
