Antoine Walker Busted for Gambling Debts: Former NBA star Antoine Walker is following in the footsteps of fellow NBA retiree, Charles Barkley, as he became the latest professional basketball player to get in trouble with the law for failing to pay his gambling debts, this according to various reports.
According to a court clerk, Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Melanie Tobiasson personally signed a warrant for the arrest of the former NBA star on criminal charges stemming from $822,500 in gambling debts, this past Tuesday.
The former NBA Champ is allegedly accused of 3 felony counts of writing bad checks.
According to the information provided, Walker failed to make good on “10 checks totaling $1 million written to Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Resort”.
Allegedly, Walker has repaid $178,000 of the debts to three casinos, according to prosecuting DA Bernie Zadrowski, who spoke with the Las Vegas Sun. Zadrowski told the Sun he requested an arrest warrant be issued as the former Celtic/Heat/Timberwolf still owes over 800 K for his gambling.
Reports also suggest that Walker’s attorney in Las Vegas, Jonathan Powell declined to comment on the criminal allegations against his client.
