Ginobili, who most recently won a bronze medal with Argentina in the Beijing 2008 Olympics, made the decision to undergo surgery after multiple MRI showed no improvements on a lingering injury.

The 31-year-old said: “It’s the same as it was two months ago, when they did the first exam. It’s not worse, which is important. Now, the thing is, it’s not better either, and it seems like the only way to repair it completely is arthroscopic surgery.”
