Woman Charged with Stalking Los Angeles Lakers F Luke Walton: Last week in El Segundo, CA, the Los Angeles Lakers officially began training camp and all other preparations for the 2008-2009 NBA season. The defending Western Conference Champions’ popularity has skyrocketed after the success they enjoyed last season. It has gotten to the point that, Lakers opening night $10 tickets at the Staple Center, are currently being sold for over $100 bucks, with less than two weeks away. Not to mention what a courtside seat next to Jack Nicholson would cost you.

Unfortunately, everything has increased in Los Angeles including the weirdoes that follow the team a little too close. That is the case of a woman who has now been formally charged with stalking the Los Angeles Lakers F Luke Walton. Tonight, in NBA Preseason action on NBATV, the Los Angeles Lakers (-1.5) take on the NBA Online Betting Underdogs the Utah Jazz (+1.5) at 10:30 PM ET.

According to police reports, Stacy Elizabeth Beshear was arrested on September 18th, 2008, after she pulled up to Walton’s car and pretended to fire gunshots at him with her hand. Walton said the woman has been harassing him since late last year, after he refused to sign an autograph. Luke told authorities that on numerous times she waited outside his Manhattan Beach home, and wrote on his car with a marker.

"When she pulled up to my house and started yelling at me after she fired a fake gun at me, I couldn't help but to start yelling back at her," Walton said. "She was in my driveway. But when we were interacting, I could tell by the stuff she was saying that she's not all there in the head, which makes me feel bad for her. At the same time, most people who go on killing sprees are people who aren't all there in the head."

The 34-year-old Beshear, has pleaded not guilty to (a misdemeanor count of) stalking. The case, which is going to trial, will commence on November 6th 2008. If convicted, Beshear faces up to a year in county jail.
