Both of these schools opened up the season with victories. For the  Flyers, there was a huge upset brewing against Creighton in the opener, as the Bluejays led by double-digits in the first half. For the Yellow Jackets, their first win of the season came in blowout fashion against Florida A&M. Dayton was able to take control of the game, thanks to the dominant play of Chris Johnson and Chris Wright , beating Creighton 80-90. Chris Wright was also a huge factor in this game going 9-for-12 shooting from the field for his game-high 25 points. “Coming into the second half, we had to calm down,” Wright said. “With it being the first game and everything, we played with too much adrenalin and not enough focus in the first half.” For Georgia Tech, there were no such woes, as they came out with purpose and easily routed the Rattlers 100-59. The game was pretty much decided in the first half, as Iman Shumpert led the way with 18 points as coach Paul Hewitt was pleased with the results. “I told them this is the ultimate,” Hewitt said. “If you just check all your personal goals at the door and play as hard as you can when you’re out there, we have a chance to have a great team, I mean a great team. We’ve got tremendous depth. “This is a great opportunity for us,” Hewitt said. “Dayton has a lot of experienced guys back from last year.
