NCAAB Picks: North Carolina vs. Ohio State Basketball Odds – Nov 19th, 2009: The defending National Champions will be playing their fourth game of the season, and they’ll sure be tested tonight. The world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York, NYC, will be the sight for this Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, as the No.6 (3-0) North Carolina Tar Heels [-2] take on the 15th ranked, sports betting odds underdog (2-0) Ohio State Buckeyes [+2] tonight.
All the NCAAB Picks high-flying action gets under way at 9 PM ET (6 PM PT) and it can all be seen in crystal clear
high definition on ESPN2. For the Tar Heels, being undefeated thus far doesn’t necessarily mean this game is in the bag by any means.
In fact, North Carolina must make some serious improvements after their last game against Valparaiso if they it wants to beat its first ranked opponent of the season. “We have no chance in New York if we play this kind of basketball,” Tar Heels coach Roy Williams said.
After easily disposing of FIU and NC Central, the Heels ran into a little of a problem taking care of the ball against the Crusaders. Williams’ team almost completely surrendered a 24-point second half lead by committing 14 turnovers and allowing their opponents to shoot 7-for-10 from behind the arc.
“I’m not trying to travel all the way to New York just to get embarrassed,” Heels guard Larry Drew Jr. said. “This team, we have a lot of potential and we need to wake up now and know the games aren’t going to get any easier.”
For the Buckeyes, they embrace their first true test of the young season. Ohio State is fortunate to have 5 starters returning from last year’s 22-11 group that was upset in the first round of the NCAA tourney. “It’s a great challenge, a great opportunity,” Buckeyes head coach Thad Matta said. “When we come out of there on Friday night, we’ll know a lot more about our team.”
