For Bearkats, they enter this game having won their first two contests by an average of 34 points. In the opener, Sam Houston State defeated LeTourneau 73-42. The second game their offense broke out, thrashing Texas College by a score of 91-54. On Monday night, junior transfer Gilberto Clavell scored 19 points to lead his team, in scoring, shooting 67% from the field.

For the 4th ranked Wildcats, they’ll be looking to start the season 3-0 for the first time in three years. Freshman John Wall’s debut couldn’t have possibly gone much better than it did after sitting out Friday’s opener against Morehead State.

Wall scored the game-winning bucket on a 15-foot jumper that gave Kentucky a 72-70 victory over Miami (OH). “When it hit the bottom of the net, it was a relief, a great feeling,” Wall said. Wall finished with 19 points, and 5 assists in his 38 minutes of play.

“I’m just going to be honest. I am just trying to figure out how we are supposed to play. … A lot of stuff right now is because we have had only 20-something practices,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said. “But, I was ecstatic that we got down 18 points. Because I wanted to see what we were made of and when this team wouldn’t go away the thing I loved about my team was they would say, ‘We are not losing this. We are not losing this game.’”
