Despite the dismal effort, the Hoyas still rank fifth in the nation in three point percentage at 43.8 percent.
John Thompson was pleased that his troops found a way to get in done on offense without forcing up too many contested long range shots.
"Our team has done and is doing a good job taking what the defense gives [them]," Thompson said. "We don't have to make the 3s to win games."
Temple comes into this evening's game with a 5-2 mark after recording back-to-back victories over Central Michigan and Maryland. The Owls took out the Terrapins 64-61 on December 5th at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., despite hitting just 26-of-60 from the field and 2-of-13 from three point range.
Temple controlled the glass, out-rebounding Maryland 39-30, and it also recorded 13 steals on the defensive end. The Owls defensive pressure also limited the Terps to 42.9 percent field goal shooting.
Four Owls starters scored in double figures in the tightly contested game, including guards Ramone Moore and Juan Fernandez, who combined for 30 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Forward LaVoy Allen produced 13 points and he led Temple with 10 rebounds.
