Four #1 seeded teams collided tonight but only two remain and it will be Kansas vs. Memphis in the NCAA basketball championship game. Memphis displayed the speed and fast break capability that got them to the final four in their 78-63 win over UCLA. Memphis is a -1 point betting favorite at Betus.com for those bettors that want the best value on a Kansas NCAA Basketball Championship victory. UCLA could not keep pace with Memphis’s athleticism even though they hung tough throughout. Memphis showed that they are tough defensively by neutralizing UCLA’s main weapon Kevin Love for much of the game. In the second game Kansas showed that they have all the elements that make up a top team as they got into an early rhythm and manhandled North Carolina in an 84-66 win. The odds are even at SBGglobal.com for the NCAA basketball championship game for those bettors who want the best value on a Memphis victory. At one point Memphis with their lights out shooting was ahead by 28 points. Kansas showed excellent perimter defense early on shutting down North Carolina’s sharpshooters. In the second half Kansas went soft on defense and almost paid the price as North Carolina chipped away at the large deficit and came within 4 points. Kansas showed their grit by storming back and having a late run that sealed their NCAA basketball championship game. Kansas vs North Carolina will showcase two #1 tournament seeds against each other but only one will remain after these two high profile squads do battle on the hardwood at 9:45 PM ET. North Carolina and Kansas are both teams with depth as deep as the abyss, but North Carolina prefers to play with all-out offense while Kansas like to play more conventional. Sportsbook.com has North Carolina as -3 point betting chalk against Kansas with the total 134.5 points. Energetic national player of the year Tyler Hansbrough has led the way to a profitable season for North Carolina backers, going 24-11 ATS and 4-0 ATS in the tournament. Kansas has been almost as profitable with their balanced play going 21-15 ATS and 3-1 ATS in the tournament. North Carolina has been practically unstoppable with their run and gun offense averaging an explosive 89.2 PPG.
Kansas is not as dynamic on offense, but forward Brandon Rush is a NBA first round talent that can change games. sportsbook.com has the TOTAL at 160 points. Kansas has vicious half-court play and their defense is stingy allowing 61.2 PPG. Kansas has shown a propensity however to choke in big games with a couple of first round NCAA tournament losses and maturity has been called into question. Shooting was also an issue in Kansas’s last game against Davidson when they shot a terrible 17 of 46 from the field. For Kansas to pull of the upset they will need to prevent North Carolina from running the floor and step up their own offensive production with better shooting. Bettors love offense which is why even in the Memphis UCLA Final Four game all the betting money has been oozing in on the scoring minded Memphis team. The game started as a pick’em at most shops but has since moved to Memphis at -2 or even 2.5 points now but I have my own feeling for this NCAA Final Four prediction. Sportsbook.com has Memphis as -2.5 point betting favorites against UCLA. Most gamblers have a short memory and what they have fresh in their minds now are the Memphis Tigers blowout wins against Texas and Michigan State. With their size, speed and attacking style of play Memphis is a fun team to watch but not necessarily a profitable one to bet on going, 17-19-2. Memphis h as been overwhelming most team with their size and speed but against UCLA they will be pitted against a team that matches up in both categories. UCLA not only matches up physically but they have the edge in coaching and experience with this being their 3rd straight final four. Memphis has hidden their free-throw warts well with their furious offensive assaults but the fact remains that they hit only 59.6% from the line. Memphis center Joey Dorsey is a huge liability at the line and UCLA will be looking to hack him. UCLA has the edge in defense over Memphis as well allowing over 10 fewer PPG in their last 5 games. In a battle of offense vs. defense UCLA should be able make it a dogfight and make a prediction of UCLA to come out on top with their versatility and reach the NCAA basketball championship.

Memphis vs UCLA will pit arguably the two most talented squads in the NCAA final four when they play at the Alamodome in Texas at 6:07 ET. UCLA was taken to a new level this year by powerful offensive scoring machine Kevin Love who has made the Bruins a solid bet all season going 21-14-2 ATS. Love will be matched up in this game against dominating Memphis center Joey Dorsey who has been an animal defensively in the NCAA tournament with 9.3 rebound and 2.5 blocks per game. Sportsbetting.com has Memphis as a -2 point NCAA final four betting favorite against UCLA. The Bruins have survived some close calls leading up to the NCAA final four, but they have proved to be resilient with an experienced. Memphis is 37-1 SU going into their final four game against UCLA and they have steamrolled Michigan State and Texas like road kill in their last two games. Led by a deep group of stone cold sharphooters, Memphis averages 80.3 points per game on offense. Sportsbetting.com has the TOTAL at 113.5 for UCLA vs Memphis Final Four 2008 game.
Chris Douglas-Roberts is a lights out 3-point shooter nailing an incredible 44.2 % from behind the arc while averaging 22.5 PPG. Memphis Tigers point guard Derrick Rose is the stud that keeps the offensive juggernaunt cranking with his off-the-charts athleticism. Rose is a born leader that will have to play a brilliant game to execute plays to get to the hoop against a stingy Bruins defense that allows 58.9 PPG. For the first time in NCAA Basketball Tournament history, all four No.1 seeds made it through to the Final Four with the North Carolina Tar Heels and Kansas Jayhawks going toe-to-toe in the second semifinal. BetOnline.com has the North Carolina Tar Heels –3 point favorites against the Kansas Jayhawks with the winner playing in the Final Four 2008 National Championship Game on Monday night.
The Jayhawks were cruising until they ran into a Cinderella team in Davidson, but Kansas showed a lot of mental toughness by holding off the Wildcats to reach the Final Four. While Brandon Rush and Mario Chalmers are the team's best players, the contributions of bench player Sasha Kaun was crucial as he had 13 vital points in 20 minutes of action.
Kaun may be counted on again in this game, as the Jayhawks try to figure out a way to stop the Tar Heels' All-American forward Tyler Hansbrough, who was massive in the Elite Eight win over Louisville with 28 points and 13 rebounds. If players like Danny Green and Wayne Ellington can hit outside shots, that will free up the inside for Hansbrough. Much of the pre-game talk will be about North Carolina coach Roy Williams, who coached at Kansas for 15 years before heading to Chapel Hill in 2003, where he won a national title in 2005. Williams played and coached for Carolina, but his Kansas exit left a bitter taste in the mouths of many Jayhawk fans.
These two powerhouses have met just once, with Carolina winning by 11 at Kansas in 2002. But the Jayhawks are just too deep, so take Kansas to reach the NCAA Basketball National Championship game as 3-point underdogs. Get your Free Final Four Pick in Now!
