The NCAA Tournament resumes on Thursday with the “Sweet 16 as Washington State looks to continue their run against top-ranked North Carolina. The Sports-Odds.com live lines feed shows that BetOnline.com has the North Carolina Tar Heels –8 point favorites against the Washington State Cougars with a over/under of 142 points.
The Cougars held Winthrop to 11 second-half points in a first-round romp, followed by a statement 20-point win over Notre Dame. Washington State are known for their tough defense, but they may have put in their best effort of the season by shutting down the high-powered Fighting Irish, most notably holding Notre Dame's Luke Harangody to ten points on 3-for-17 shooting. The three-headed guard combination of Derrick Low, Kyle Weaver and Taylor Rochestie sparks the team offensively, but on defense, everyone gets involved for Washington State.
The Tar Heels have had a relatively easy road thus far, thrashing Mount St. Mary's and Arkansas by an average margin of 35 points. For all the talk surrounding Tyler Hansbrough, the Tar Heels need Wayne Ellington and Danny Green to step up and take some pressure off of the Naismith award finalist. The Tar Heels are 8-point favorites in this tilt, and they should come away with the win as Washington State struggles to deal with perimeter players such as Hansbrough. Detroit (38-31-4 ATS) vs Toronto (35-34-1 ATS) will match up two of the East’s playoff teams although they appear to be on different paths.Detroit has been solid all season behind great two way play from Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Rasheed Wallace while Toronto has been in a tailspin over the last few weeks. has Detroit has been solid all season behind great two way play from Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, and Rasheed Wallace while Toronto has been in a tailspin over the last few weeks.
The Raptors recent struggles have them currently sitting as the 7 seed in the East although a big part of the problem is that star Chris Bosh is playing hurt. Jose Calderon, TJ Ford and Anthony Parker must play big while Bosh is hobbled in order to prevent a potential deadly first round match up against Boston or Detroit. The good news for the Raptors is they are only 1 ½ games out of fifth place as the current 5 thru 8 seeded teams are weak to say the least.
Detroit as expected has been a top team in the league and should be a fixture deep in the playoffs. The previously mentioned players have helped the Pistons continued success as all of them excel on both ends of the floor. Antonio McDyess is also having a nice comeback season after plenty of frustrations following numerous injuries.
Toronto needs to pull off an upset in this game as the two teams directly above them in Philadelphia and Washington have been playing excellent basketball. |

With only sixteen squads remaining in this year’s March Madness Sweet 16 NCAA Tourney, teams are more bloodthirsty, the margins of victory are significantly trimmed, and the upsets are more probable. As we saw in rounds one and two, anything is possible in this year’s playoffs and those Cinderella stories are waiting to be written with every tick of the clock. Kansas is a 11.5 point NCAA Basketball Betting favorite in Villanova vs Kansas.
Consequently, so far this season the region that has provided the most upsets has been the Midwest Region with the only constants being Kansas and Wisconsin. By far the most predictable Region has been the Big East with UNC leading the way in dominating fashion. The South Region has also unfolded as expected with Memphis torching the competition in the 1st round and sneaking by in the 2nd. Finally, there have been fireworks out of the West Region: W. Kentucky shocking Drake, and winning against San Diego; not to mention W. Virginia’s monumental win over coach K’s Blue Devils. Wisconsin a -4.5 point NCAA Basketball Betting favorite in Davidson vs Wisconsin.

Wednesday is a busy day in the NBA, as there are 12 games slated to hit the hard court with the New Orleans Saints visits Cleveland Cavaliers in a clash of MVP candidates. BetOnline.com has the Cleveland Cavaliers -2.5 point favorites against the New Orleans Hornets with the over/under set at 190 points.
This will be the second stop in a four-game Eastern trip for the Hornets, who head to Indiana on Tuesday before going to Cleveland, Boston and Toronto. The Hornets showed they could be successful when Chris Paul has an off-night, as he did when foul trouble limited him to 29 minutes in Saturday's win over the Celtics. David West raised his game with 37 points for New Orleans, who shot 50.4% against a Boston team that has allowed the fewest points in the NBA.
The Cavaliers have alternated wins and losses over the past two weeks, and they are still very dependant on LeBron James, who set the franchise mark for scoring in a win over Toronto last Friday. James achieved this record at the age of 23, and in 168 fewer games than previous record-holder Brad Daugherty. However, the Cavaliers may need to spread the offense around a bit more, as no one other than James has led the team in scoring since Larry Hughes, who has been moved to Chicago, dropped 40 points in a win over Orlando on February 11th. The Cavaliers have taken three of their last five against the Hornets, who beat Cleveland 86-76 at home on December 29th. The Hornets have been surprising good on the road this year, but the Cavaliers should come away with the win on Wednesday and gain a season split with New Orleans. Get your Free NBA Pick in Now!

Western Conference contenders the Phoenix Suns head East to battle the Boston Celtics. BetOnline.com has the Boston Celtics -5.5 point favorites against the Phoenix Suns with a over/under set at 207.5 points.
The Suns begin a four-game Eastern swing at Detroit on Monday, but they come into this road trip with a seven-game winning streak. Amare Stoudamire had a massive night in Saturday's win over Houston, racking up 38 points and 13 rebounds to power the Suns to a big win. Phoenix has recovered from a slump that was caused by their trade to acquire Shaquille O'Neal, but the self-proclaimed “Most Dominant Ever” is now back in game shape and is getting more comfortable in the Phoenix system.
The Celtics are the first team to clinch their ticket to the postseason, but they have not scaled back their effort as homecourt advantage is still at stake. Boston finished a tough five-game road trip with a loss at New Orleans, but they host Philadelphia, Phoenix, New Orleans and Miami to wrap up March. The Suns have won five in a row over the Celtics, including a 85-77 win at home on February 22nd. Look for the Celtics to return the favor and end their slump against Phoenix.
