Phoenix Suns vs Portland Trailblazers PDF Print E-mail
Written by Matt Yanofsky

The Phoenix Suns are a surprising 2-4 since the acquisition of Shaquille O’Neal. Although a faded O’Neal brings an inside presence, he has slowed up the offense and Phoenix appears to be badly missing the always active and super athletic Shawn Marion. BetUS.com has the Phoenix Suns as -2 point NBA betting favorites for tonight's game  at 10 pm ET.

Even with their recent struggles, the Suns are 39-20 and only 2 ½ games out of first place in the West. Two time MVP Steve Nash is still playing at a very high level, averaging 17.5 points and 11.5 assists per game while shooting an impressive 46% from downtown. Amare Stoudemire has returned to a dominantPhoenix Suns vs Portland Trailblazers force following his injuries and is good for 23.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Leandro Barbosa, the man with perhaps the coolest nickname in the league (the Brazilian Blur) has been a great 6th man contributing 16.7 points while causing match up problems for just about everyone in the NBA due to his phenomenal quickness.

Portland has been on a downslide since February 8th, going 3-8 while falling out of the playoffs. Brandon Roy has been having a very good season and most improved candidate LaMarcus Aldridge has nearly doubled his average from a season ago. Travis Outlaw has also proven to be a better player as he matures under the tutelage of head coach Nate McMillan. Portland must play like they were earlier in the season if they have any hopes of playing in the post season. BetUS.com has the TOTAL at 208 points for the Phoenix Suns vs Portland Trailblazers game.

Portland and Phoenix each desperately need a win as the two struggling teams can quickly find themselves set back even further in the ultra competitive Western Conference. Memphis Grizzlies vs Chicago Bulls Preview PDF Print E-mail
Written by Matt Yanofsky
Tuesday, 04 March 2008

As miserable of a season as it’s been for head coach Scott Skiles and the Bulls, the playoffs are not out of the picture! The Bulls are hoping that the acquisition of Drew Gooden, and Larry Hughes should help the team make a push. Gooden, who was acquired for head case/declining former all star Ben Wallace, has always been an underrated player in my mind and I never understood why teams are hurrying to trade him. BetUS.com has the Chicago Bulls as -10.5 NBA betting favorites in the Memphis Grizzlies vs Chicago Bulls.

Hughes, who has always been a very skilled player has made the most of his time in Chicago, averaging 19 points 3.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Ben Gordon and Loul Deng have had adequate seasons and Kirk Hinrich will really need to step it up if the Bulls hope to grab the 7 or 8 seed in the East. BetUS.com has the TOTAL at 208 points.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Chicago Bulls PreviewMemphis is once again having a rebuilding season as they are looking to cut salaries and build a young team. Rudy Gay is having a breakout season getting 20.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Rookie Juan Carlos Navarro has been pretty good as well with 11.1 points and 2.2 assists nightly. Mike Miller is also slated to return soon so his 16.8 points per game definitely won’t hurt the Grizzlies.

If Chicago wants to make the playoffs, they need to handily beat teams like Memphis. If Chicago struggles, can we really expect them to make any noise if they end up as a playoff team? SBG Global Current Line: Jazz  - 6.5 , Total 200

Utah is coming off a two game road trip in which they split, losing on Friday at New Orleans but winning at Memphis on Saturday. NBA Picks: San Antonio Spurs vs Milwaukee Bucks PDF Print E-mail
Written by Brad Marchetti
Saturday, 01 March 2008

The ageless San Antonio Spurs (27-28-1 ATS) will be looking to show that they are still the team to beat despite their naysayers, when they go on the road to face the Milwaukee Bucks (26-31 ATS) in San Antonio Spurs vs Milwaukee Bucks. BetUS.com has the San Antonio Spurs as -6.5 road favorites.

The Spurs have been hot on the road of late winning 7 of their last 8 but the Bucks have won 3 in a row against playoffs contenders on their home turf. Spurs stud forward Tim Duncan has always toasted the Bucks and he now has a new weapon with the newly acquired Kurt Thomas. San Antonio has been playing well as a team and the last time they played the Bucks they blew them out by 25. BetUS.comSan Antonio Spurs vs Milwaukee Bucks. has the TOTAL at 192 points

The Bucks have some potency on offense however an have averaged a stellar 105.8 points per game in their last 5. The Bucks are 16-11 at home and getting revenge over the Spurs should bring a surge of momentum as they compete for a playoff spot. Since 1996 the Bucks are 7-2 against the spread against the high profile Spurs. Will this trend continue?

Utah Jazz at New Orleans Hornets NBA Picks PDF Print E-mail
Written by Robert Sefrino
Friday, 29 February 2008

If the Utah Jazz could do as well on the road as they do at home they would be the favorites to win it all this season.  Utah has won 15 straight at home but they have lost three of their last four games on the road.  They visit New Orleans on Friday where they haven’t played in three years. It is a huge game in the Western Conference as both teams are fighting for the conference lead. ESPN has taken notice as they added this game to their schedule.  “We’re obviously thrilled to have another chance to showcase our team on a national stage, especially at home,” said Hornets Owner George Shinn. “And I feel like being added to ESPN’s schedule shows that people are taking notice of the job Byron Scott and our players have done as we continue our push for the playoffs.”  SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Hornets at Home.

Utah Jazz (37-21) at New Orleans Hornets (38-18)
Friday, 8:05 pm Eastern – ESPN

SBG Global Current Line: Hornets  - 4 , Total 205.5

New Orleans is coming off a 120-103 home win over Phoenix on Thursday, as David West had 27 points while Chris Paul added 25 points and 15 assists. Jannero Pargo added 22 points off the bench and Tyson Chandler had 12 points and 15 rebounds. "Enough is enough," Paul said. "We were on a losing streak and we came out with a different mentality, but we've got to come out with that mentality every night."  Paul has not played well against Utah in his career averaging just 13.8 points per game.  The Hornets have gone 1-7 in the last eight games against the Jazz.  The Hornets were blown out in Utah earlier this month 110-88.  Deron Williams had 29 points and 11 assists in that game for Utah.

The Jazz have actually played better on the road during 2008 with a road record of 6-5. The earlier matchup against New Orleans had the Jazz shooting lights out led by Kyle Korver.  Overall, the Jazz made a record number of three point shots in that game.  Korver was 6 of 8 from three point range and had 20 points.  The game could come down to which team is fresh.  The Hornets had to play Phoenix on Wednesday while the Jazz hosted Detroit.  Neither game was that close so both teams should be ready on Friday.

Here are the NBA betting stats for Friday’s game.  The Jazz are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. the Southwest. The Jazz are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 vs. the Western Conference. The Jazz are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.

The Hornets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. the Northwest. The Hornets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Friday games. The Hornets are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as a home favorite. The Hornets are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 vs. the Western Conference. The Hornets are 21-10 ATS in their last 31 games overall. The home team is 5-1-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between the two teams.

The Under is 5-0 in Utah’s last 5 vs. the Southwest. The Over is 4-1 in Utah’s last 5 overall. The Over is 4-1 in Utah’s last 5 road games. The Over is 12-5 in Utah’s last 17 games as a road underdog.

The Over is 5-1 in the Hornets last 6 Friday games. The Over is 5-1 in the Hornets last 6 vs. the Western Conference. The Over is 10-3 in the Hornets last 13 games as a home favorite. The Under is 10-4 in the Hornets last 14 vs. the Northwest. The Over is 9-4 in the Hornets last 13 overall. The Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.
