Arizona has already wrapped up the Pac 12 regular season championship, but it cannot afford to let up in its final two games, not with a potential No. 1 NCAA Tournament seed on the line. So Oregon State should expect the Wildcats best effort when they two rivals hook up at the Gill Coliseum in Corvallis later tonight. The odds makers at SportsBettingOnline.ag certainly are as they have made Arizona a -9.5 against the spread and -500 money line favorite ($500 wins $100) in their latest College Basketball Odds release. The college basketball pick total in tonight’s game, which is scheduled to tip off at 11:00pm ET on FOX Sports 1, is set at 137 points.
Arizona had a couple of February hiccups, losing at Cal and at Arizona State, but it has returned to form for the stretch run. The was never more apparent than in the Wildcats last two games.
Sean Miller’s troops exacted some serious revenge against the Golden Bears last week, earning an 87-59 win over Cal at the McKale Center in Tucson before hosting Stanford over the weekend. Arizona had a more difficult time getting past the Cardinal on Sunday, but they still prevailed with relative ease, stopping Stanford 79-66.
The Wildcats defense limited Stanford to 41.5 percent field goal shooting, despite an 8-for-13 shooting performance from Cardinal forward Josh Huestis. Offensively Arizona had five players score in double figure, including reserve guard Gabe York. Aaron Gordon led the way for the Wildcats, scoring 19 points to go along with 15 rebounds.
The win over Stanford improved Arizona’s record to 27-2 overall and 14-2 in conference play while effectively locking up the Pac 12 regular season title for Gordon and company.
Oregon State suffered a 54-76 loss in the first meeting between these two teams; it has since dropped three of five to fall to 15-13 overall and 7-9 in league action. Like the Wildcats, the Beavers last took the court on Sunday, when they put up a game but losing road effort against UCLA. The Bruins trailed by 11 at one point in the contest but eventually prevailed 74-69 over Oregon State.
Oregon State, which is 11-3 at home this season, has lost seven straight games in this rivalry series. The Beavers last win over the Wildcats took place in Corvallis on January 2nd, 2011.
