The Wildcats, earlier seeded overall top-seed by the NCAA Tournament selection committee, has lived up to its billing by advancing through five rounds of play with wins over Western Kentucky, Iowa State, Indiana, Baylor and Ohio State. The game between Kansas and Kentucky will be the second of this season, the first coming earlier when Kentucky defeated Kansas by 10 points (75-65) in the Champions Classic in Madison Square Garden. Kansas has won three of the last four games in the series between the schools. All time Kentucky leads the series 20-6.

While going 5-0 through the NCAA Tournament, Kansas has covered the betting spread (ATS) in three of five as combined game scores fell UNDER the posted number in three four of five, the lone esception, against North Carolina in the regional finals. In their head to head battle with the Wildcats earlier on Nov. 15, 2011, Kansas lost by 10 points failing to cover ATS as +6 1/2 underdogs. The game total for that game fell UNDER the posted 148.

Kentucky has cashed ATS for backers in three of their five games of this NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats  non-cover loss came in the second round against Western Kentucky lined as 26 1/2-chalk favorites. Kentucky won the game by 15 while the combined game score went OVER the posted 136. On Saturday, Kentucky and Louisville pushed the eight point chalk.
