College Football Odds Week 9

Week 9 of the college football season features three Top 25 match-ups and a number of noteworthy conference games with No. 2 Michigan squaring off against Michigan State and No. 14 Florida facing border rival Georgia. Perhaps the most important game on this week’s schedule is a showdown between ACC Atlantic Division adversaries No. 3 Clemson and No. 12 Florida State. The latest round of College Football Odds from Bovada.lv have the Tigers lined as a -5 road favorite over the Seminoles.

Top 25 action opens tomorrow night in the Keystone State with No. 25 Virginia Tech taking on Pittsburgh at Heinz Field. The Hokies are looking for sixth win of the season and, potentially, control of the top spot in the ACC Coastal standings. They are expected to get the former, coming into the contest a -4.5 road favorite.

Friday night will also play host to a pivotal conference meeting as No. 22 Navy, the leader in the AAC’s West Division, battles East Division front runner South Florida. In spite of their 5-1 record and statement wins over Houston and Memphis in their last two games, the Midshipmen are lined as a +7.5 road dog to the Bulls. USF, which owns a 6-2 record, is coming off a 30-46 loss at Temple.

As for Clemson, it last played on October 15, beating North Carolina State 24-17 to improve to 7-0. FSU has been something of a disappointment this season, losing at Louisville and home to North Carolina, and its last two wins were relatively close ones (at Miami 20-19, Wake Forest 17-6); however, the Seminoles have won four straight and 11 of 12 opposite Clemson in Tallahassee.

Saturday’s Michigan/Michigan State tilt is clearly a mismatch, but rivalries are strange. Jim Harbaugh’s troops have been tough as nails, particularly on the defensive side of the ball, ranking first in the nation in both points and yards per game allowed. The Wolverines prowess has garnered them a 7-0 record and first place in the Big Ten’s East Division.

Michigan State, meanwhile, is suffering through its worst season ever under Mark Dantonio and it rides a five game losing streak into this weekend’s game. The Spartans are 7-1 straight up and 8-0 against the spread in their last eight games against the Wolverines, though. And they will, no doubt, be up for Michigan, especially playing as a +23.5 home underdog.

This week’s other Top 25 matchups are No. 4 Washington and No. 17 Utah and No. 7 Nebraska and No. 11 Wisconsin. The Huskies are favored by 10 over the hosting Utes; the Huskers are an 8.5 point underdog to the Badgers.
