Alabama vs Florida State Point Spread 2014 BCS Odds

alabama coach nick sabanWith the college football season winding down the BCS National Championship picture is starting to take shape, if only a little bit. There are still four undefeated teams in the top five, which leaves numerous title options on the table; however, Alabama and Florida State control their own destinies while teams like Ohio State, Stanford, Baylor, and Oregon do not. Because of that, is favoring an Alabama vs Florida State BCS National Championship Game at 4 to 5 odds ($125 wins $100). The latest 2014 BCS Odds from the offshore bookmaker also have Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide listed as a 6 to 5 favorite ($100 wins $120) to win the national title; the Seminoles are fairly close second at 8 to 5 college football odds ($100 wins $160). A point spread for a potential Alabama/Florida State title game has yet to be issued from Bovada.

Of all the teams in the top five, Florida State has, unquestionably, the easiest road to the championship game. The Seminoles close out their regular season slate with home games against Syracuse and Idaho and a road meeting with a rapidly fading Florida squad. FSU could meet Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke or Miami in the ACC Championship Game, but it would be a double digit favorite against any of those teams.

As for Alabama, it has a road meeting with Mississippi State and a home outing against Chattanooga before closing out its regular season schedule at No. 7 Auburn. Should the Crimson Tide and Tigers both avoid losing before their season finale clash, the winner of that game would represent the SEC West in the SEC Championship Game. Once there, the division champion will face either Missouri or South Carolina out of the East and neither of those teams would be a picnic to play.

No. 3 Ohio State must win out and hope for a loss from Alabama or Florida State or both. No. 5 Baylor faces the same scenario, but its road is even more challenging as it presently trails 8-1 Stanford in the BCS standings. The Bears could jump the Cardinal with a strong finish, though. There are two ranked teams remaining on Baylor’s schedule in Oklahoma State and Texas.
