One of college football’s greatest rivals renews this weekend as No. 20 Michigan travels to Columbus to take on No. 4 Ohio State. Saturday’s meeting between the Wolverines and Buckeyes, which will be broadcast live on ABC, is scheduled to kickoff at 12:00pm ET at the Horseshoe. Early College Football Odds have the hosting Buckeyes listed as a -3.5 pick against the spread favorite; the game total is set at 54.5 points.
Michigan Wolverines vs Ohio State Buckeyes (-3.5): Ohio State, which trails Michigan 44-47 in the legendary series, already owns the Big Ten Leaders title, but do to its current probation the school can participate in neither the conference championship game or a bowl game. So it all comes down to this for the 11-0 Buckeyes. This is their BCS championship, their shot at perfection, and, frankly, that does not bode well for a Michigan squad that still has an opportunity to win the Big Ten Championship. Another red flag for the Wolverines is their performance against top tier teams outside Ann Arbor. Michigan’s three losses all came on the road where they fell to Alabama (neutral site), Notre Dame, and Nebraska, and what is worse, it lost those games by an average of 16 points per game. And there is this nugget working against the Wolverines as well: Ohio State is 10-0 straight up and 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games as a home favorite with a listed game total of 54.5 or more points. Expect the best out of Ohio State this weekend as it attempts to stay perfect and embarrass its hated rival in one flail swoop.
