While betting on the winners gender is currently the only option out there, we are seeing some seperation in the odds based on gender. Prior to last weeks show, odds were equal at -110 (moneyline format) the winner of American Idol 8 would be a male or female. As of Monday, oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com showed some seperation listing the men as -140 favorites to win.
American Idol 8 is currently in the midst of selecting finalists from 36 semi-finalists. The semi-finalists are divided into three groups of 12 of which 3 finalists are voted on by viewers. Once the semi-final round is completed judges will select three additional finalists from a group of previously eliminated contestants in a wild-card round. Three people from the wild-card round will join the nine contestants whom emerged victorious from the semi-final round. The wild-card contestants will be selected by the four American Idol judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara Dio Guardi.
Once the final round of American Idol 8 begins, Sportsbook.com and other major online gambling sites will begin posting odds on individuals. We can't wait!
