American Idol 2010: Boys Week 1 Odds

by Rachel Quinn on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

The boys week 1 of American Idol 2010 will begin and they'll have to put on their best tonight at 8 PM EST after the overall good performance from the girls last night.  Simon Cowell’s faith in the boys doesn’t seem too promising since he believes that a girl will win this season but I wouldn’t take that to the bank just yet.  Go to BODOG.com to get the best odds on the American Idol Season 9 contestants.

American Idol Odds Boys Week 1“We've had a few years now of guys winning the show and I would say there is definitely a better chance of a girl winning the show this year, certainly than last year,” Simon Cowell said about American Idol 2010. “I’d love to find a Taylor Swift, somebody who's relevant rather than just a contest winner.”

There’s already been controversy stirring up with the boys this season and I’m sure there will be more to come.  The first being original 24 contestant, Chris GoLightly’s ineligibility to move forward in the show due to nonsense.  Chris had signed a contract to be in a boy band, the contract expired in June of 2009 but later received a phone call saying that he filed the wrong paperwork and was still under contract.  By the time this 19 year old orphan found the paperwork saying the contract expired it was too late and Tim Urban (25 to 1 odds) was brought in for his replacement.

“It hurts, man. This hurts me so bad because I sleep in a garage. I have no money. I grew up in the foster-care system all my life, being abused and everything. Music has always been my outlet. This is messed up what they’re doing,” Chris GoLightly said of American Idol producer’s actions.

The second controversy going to Todrick Hall at 15 to 1 odds who wrote and cast local children as munchkins and flying monkeys for “Oz The Musical” that never went into production.  Parents of the children who were charged a $50 audition fee have complained that the American Idol contestant and production never refunded the money.  While Hall denies it was a scam, the reports do seem a bit fishy.

Getting away from the drama grid, you have to keep your eye on the overall favorite in Andrew Garcia coming in at 9 to 2 odds.  This guy has winner written all over him and a voice to match.  His soulful melody can make a woman swoon and a man to be envious but we’ll have to see what he delivers in this next installment of American Idol.

With the boys hoping to come in and take the crown for a good night, the girls can only hope that their performances will stand up to America.  The key girls to watch out for are Katie Stevens (13 to 2 odds) and Didi Benami (7 to 1 odds) but my favs have to be for Crystal Bowersox (15 to 2 odds) and underdog Katelyn Epperly (40 to 1 odds).
