American Idol 2010: Week 1 Elimination Predictions

by Rachel Quinn on Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Season 9 will have the first four contestants booted from the show tonight 8 PM EST and I decided to give you my American Idol 2010 Week 1 Elimination Predictions.  Week 1 proved to all of the 24 superstar hopefuls that being in front of millions can be a nerve racking thing.  Even with the “butterflies in your stomach” feeling, there were some that shined through.  BODOG.com offers you the best odds on your American Idol favorites.

American Idol 2010: Week 1 Elimination PredictionsTuesday night brought us the girls and I have to say they showed the world that they wanted this more than the guys.  Katie Stevens (13 to 2 odds) doesn’t look like she’ll be going anywhere even if the judges thought her song choice was too old for her.  Another to look out for and who happens to be my personal favorite is Crystal Bowersox (15 to 2 odds) who did a rendition of Alanis Morissette’s “Hand In My Pocket”.  This 24-year-old single mom has the feel of Janis Joplin and it seems that Simon might have a positive feel for her as well stating, “You’re infectious and people like you.”

In American Idol ways, every good performance must be accompanied by a bad and tonight it will the end of the road for two of the ladies.  I would have to say that it could be the road will hit a deadend for Haeley Vaughn (18 to 1 odds) who I find very annoying and I’m thinking Simon agrees.  It could be an upsetting night for Lacey Brown (25 to 1 odds) as well due to her inability to get it together on the American Idol stage.

I wish I could say the guys did as well as the girls Wednesday but that would just be wishful thinking.  However, two of the guys did stand out to me with the first of the two being heartthrob Casey James (8 to 1 odds).  He chose Bryan Adams’ “We’re in Heaven” and Randy Jackson thought it was a good fit for the 27-year-old Texan.  The other guy to watch for is  my personal and an overall favorite Andrew Garcia (9 to 2 odds).  He did an acoustic version of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Going Down” and new judge, Ellen DeGeneres seems to want more from this talented singer, “I looked forward in hearing you more than anyone else.”

Just like the girls there has to be 2 guys that the road will end for and their Idol hopes will go down the drain.  Tim Urban (25 to 1 odds) did an awful impersonation of One Republic’s “Apologize” with Ellen noticing that he was unable to hit the high notes.  The other contestant with a bulls eye on him would be John Park and BODOG.com seems to agree with 45 to 1 odds.  In some parts of the song you couldn’t understand what he was saying.  Simon Cowell gave John one of the worst comments of the night, “You have got to have an incredible voice to sing that song and you haven’t.  It left me flat.”

Make sure you tune in to FOX at 8 PM EST to see for yourself which 4 of the 24 contestants won’t be returning for Week 2 on American Idol.
