Fantastic Mr Fox (7 to 1 odds) is a 2009 animated film based on the Roald Dahl children’s novel and features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, and Bill Murray. This is the first for director, Wes Anderson, in animation as he was originally working with Henry Selick on the film until Selick left to direct Coraline.
At 20 to 1 odds, Coroline is a stop-motion 3-D horror fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman’s 2002 novel. Written and directed by Henry Selick, the movie that stars Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher and Jennifer Saunders (just to name a few) grossed in over $120 million worldwide.
Another animation on the list for the Academy Award is The Princess and the Frog that was written and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The animated family film is based on E.D. Baker’s novel “The Frog Princess” and was in turn inspired by the Grimm brother’ fairy tale “The Frog Prince”. The movie that brings an old fairytale with a modern twist ended up grossing almost $2.5 million. The voices that you'd recognize would be of Oprah Winfrey and Terrence Howard.
