Dancing With The Stars Season 18 – Odds to Win

DWTS-season-18Olympic gold medalists, athletes, former teen stars and more make the line-up of Dancing with the Stars season 18. The new season premiere’s on Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Olympic gold medal winner Meryl Davis is the favorite entering the new season of DWTS, with her partner Charlie White a close second. Both where ice dance partners at the 2014 Winter Olympics, in Sochi. Rounding out the bottom of the list is funny man Drew Carey and Diana Nyad. Below is a preview of some of the contestants I think have a shot at winning the Mirror Ball Trophy along with my DWTS pick.

Meryl Davis (3/2) is an Olympic ice-dancing gold medalist who will be pairing with Maksim Chmerkovskiy. DWTS will be the first time that Davis will be competing against dance partner Charlie White, who will also be competing this year. Davis and White won the 2014 Olympic gold, 2010 Olympic Silver and are 2011 & 2013 World Champions in ice-dancing.

Charlie White (3/1) will be paired with Sharna Burgess. White, who started dancing on ice since the age of 3, partnered with Meryl Davis for 17 years and finally achieved their Olympic dream when they won the ice-dancing gold medal at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Cody Simpson (6/1) is a 17-year-old pop-star who will be partnering with Witney Carson. Simpson previously toured with Justin Bieber in his Believe Tour and recently released “The Acoustic Sessions” EP.

James Maslow (6/1) is the “Big Time Rush” star who will be dancing with partner Peta Murgatroyd. Maslow starred in the hit television series and is a member of the band of the same name.

Amy Purdy (10/1) is a 2014 Paralympic Games Olympian snow-boarder who will partner with Derek Hough. Purdy lost her legs at the age of 19 as a result of meningitis but continued to achieve her dreams. She is a three-time World Cup Para-snowboard winner and co-founded Adaptive Action Sports, a non- profit organization which helps disabled youth, adults and wounded veterans.

Danica McKellar (15/1) is the former “The Wonder Years” actress who will be partnering with Valentin Chmerkovskiy. McKellar, who starred as “Winnie Cooper” in the hit show, is also a New York Times bestselling author.

Sean Avery (20/1) is a former pro hockey player who will be partnering with Karina Smirnoff. Avery played left wing for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars and the New York Rangers. Avery has spent a lot of time in clubs and could be a spoiler pick.

Diana Nyad (33/1) is an ambitious swimmer that will be paired with Henry Byalikov. Nyad achieved her 35-year-old dream of becoming the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida last year. She achieved her goal after five attempts. Older contestants never last too long.

Drew Carey (33/1) is a stand-up comedian and actor who starred in “The Drew Carey Show” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway” will be pairing with Cheryl Burke.

The Bottom Line: Amy Purdy is my pick. She will win America over because of her disability and that will lead to votes. She’s also paired with Derek Hough, who is the current reigning champion on the show, being the first and only professional dancer to ever win five Mirror Ball Trophies and the first who achieved twice back-to-back wins. He has earned 31 perfect scores of 30s and 164 perfect 10s over the seasons. We recommend you sign up with Bovada to receive a 10% sign up bonus heading into DWTS season 18.
