American Idol 2010 Boys Finally Step Up in Week 3: I know that it’s been said by Simon Cowell that he believes a girl will win this season’s American Idol 2010 but I would personally have to second guess that by the way the guy’s performed tonight. Hands down the boys did better than the girl’s Tuesday night's performance. You can get all of your current American Idol favorites at BODOG.com.
My favorites shined tonight with Lee Dewyze starting the night off. The favorite amongst the ladies sang “Fireflies” by Owl City. Even though I like his last week’s performance, I still have to say that I’ll let this guy serenade me any day. Randy didn’t think it was a good song choice for Lee but Ellen disagreed by saying, “You look confident tonight and that’s what we’ve been waiting for. I actually think you made the song a better song. You made the production value better. Not your best moment but a solid song.” Simon added, “I’ve seen progress in you and I’m really glad you’re here but I think you can do better.”
Another on my favorites list is Alex Lambert who is still a wild card with his nervous stage presence. The only thing is is that he brings goose bumps to people when he sings. Tonight he sang Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble” and I have to tell you that I loved it. Disagreeing with me, Randy stated, “I think it was a good song choice for you but I’m not sure you wowed me with it. I think you could have done more with it.” But my girl Ellen came through disagreeing with Randy, “Boo (to Randy)!! You are ripening so fast! You are consistent each week. You get better and better and better. You need more confidence but don’t be too cocky.”
My other guy favorite, Michael Lynche, gave the best performance tonight with the tear jerking song of “This Woman’s Work” and in fact brought Kara to tears. “I’ve never cried after hearing something like that and it was amazing,” Kara stated. Simon adding in, “This was so needed tonight. You come out with an incredibly difficult song to sing and you brought it out 100% tonight”. Big Mike can sing and give me goose bumps any day.
A surprising performance was from Tim Urban who hasn’t gone home as of yet. With that said, he may make it to the Top 12 due to his rendition of Jeff Buckley’s version of Hallelujah. Even though I didn’t think it was up to par, the judges disagreed. “I have to tell you this right now (Ellen gets up and hugs him) you did excellent,” Ellen stated after his performance. Simon added, “I kind of fell responsible for you doing well tonight. I think I gave you a confidence boost. It’s not the best version I’ve ever heard but the strongest performance you given so far.”
One of my not so favorites was Aaron Kelly who sang “I’m Already There” by Lonestar. I love the song but thought he was really pitchy throughout but the judges seemed to have liked it. Unfortunately, I’d have to ad one of my favs, Andrew Garcia , on the list of not so great performances as well. He did “Genie in a Bottle” by Christina Aguilera and I have to say that I wasn’t impressed. But don’t think I’m going to think of this talented singer as a foregone conclusion cause I truly hope and believe he’ll make it to the Top 12.
Tune in tomorrow night 8 PM EST to find out which four – two from the guys and girls – will be going home and who the remaining will be to make up the Final 12 of American Idol. Make sure to go to BODOG.com for all of you current odds on your American Idol favorites.
