American Idol Season 8 continues tonight after cutting down to 11 finalists remaining following last weeks cutting of two contestants from the original 13. The show will return to its original format of cutting one finalist after breaking with tradition last week and eliminating two.

BetUS.com lists University of North Carolina student Anoop Desai at +225 odds as the contestant expected to get the cut. Desai was the 13th finalist selected and was shocked as were many viewers when he survived the final group of 13.
If Desai survives the final 11, oddsmakers have installed Texas oil field worker Michael Sarver as least likely to survive at +250 odds.
To explain how the odds work, a +225 bet requires a $100 bet will win $225. On the other side of the scale, the favorite to win American Idol is Adam Lambert of Los Angeles. Odds on Lambert getting eliminated this week are an astronomical +8000. If you risked $100 on Lambert and he was cut after this show you would cash $8,000. Not a bad pay day but do not look for it to happen.
BetUS.com handicappers see Lambert as the strongest talent to win American Idol 8 and have him installed at +120 odds ($100 wager to win $120). Danny Gokey, at +275, appears to be Lambert's strongest competition. Lil Rounds at +500 and Allison Iraheta at +850 are the strongest females, considered the weakest gender in the field.
The betting odds on a female winning American Idol Season 8 are +225 as opposed to the men at -350. A male winner is such a heavy favorite it would cost the gambler $350 to win $100.
