As the weeks pass, it's becoming apparant that Adam Lambert is becoming more than a favorite to win the eighth season of American Idol. He is looking unbeatable. Oddsmakers have practically drawn a circle around the talented Southern California native. Lambert was so impressive in his performance on Tuesday (April 7) that prickly judge Simon cowell gave the vocalist a standing ovation. Never in American Idol's eight seasons has that happened previous to Tuesday's show.
Following the elimination of Scott MacIntire on Wednesday, it did not take oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com long to post an updated set of betting odds on the remaining seven finalists. And leading the pack is Lambert at -250 odds. It's not even close either with Milwaukee, Wisc., native Danny Gokey at +300. To give the gambler an idea of the seperation; to win $100 betting on Lambert, the bet required is $250. If you played $100 on Gokey, the payoff would be $300 if Gokey won. Stranger things have happened when it gets down to the final few contestants.
Once you get past Lambert and Gokey, the chances look bleak for the remaining five contestants. The best two of the remaining five are Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen, both at +1000 odds. If either of these two win American Idol a $100 bet would pay $1000. Rounding out the rest, Sportsbook lists Matt Giraud at +1500, Lil Rounds at +2500 and Anoop Desai at +5000. Anoop and Lil survived the final three on Wednesday.
