For the second week in a row, the eighth season of American Idol finds itself down to the final seven contestants. Matt Giraud was thrown a lifeline by judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson on last Wednesday's results show saving him for at least another week. Giraud received the least amount of votes but the judges thought his talent merited another chance. Meanwhile, Adam Lambert remains a heavy favorite (-350 odds) among oddsmakers at online gambling site Sportsbook.com.
The "SAVE" was available to American Idol judges once. If initiated, two contestants would face elimination the following week. With Giraud being retained, the two lowest vote getters will be eliminated Wednesday night. Sportsbook.com lists Anoop Desai with the least chance of winning American Idol at +5000 odds followed by Lil Rounds and Giraud at +4000.
